Top Looks from New York AW 10, Day 3

VIVIENNE TAM

UNITED BAMBOO

Sometimes I'll instantly like something and then I'll sit there asking myself "Um, WHY?" And then wondering if I should post it at all because people might think I have really stupid taste. But oh well. In the end I want to be honest. I have a major thing for galaxy prints as well as mineral, marble and tye dye prints.

PRABAL GURUNG

This collection, while I can see that there was nothing wrong with it, in fact I thought there was a lot right with it but at the same time found it a bit ho-hum and unexciting. The shoes were great tho which is why I've posted this one picture.

PETER SOM

Really liked this show although there were only a few looks I jumped at. I DID find it a little bit reminiscent of Proenza Schouler SS10 (the shoes and some of the colours) but I always hate it when people say things like that (even tho I say it myselff!!), I find it really pompous. The whole show was styled really well but....I have to ask: Why are metallics back? I thought we'd only just seen the last of it? *SIGH*

OHNE TITEL

This 3rd look literally made me swoon.

LACOSTE

I can always find something I like at Lacoste. It's a given. They always have fun colours and smart casual looks and who can say no to legging-legwarmers? ....Well probably 97% of you can but I can't. They went a bit bonkers with the colour blocking but most of it worked.

KAREN WALKER

If Marc Jacobs is the King of dorky chic then Karen Walker is the Queen. She always has been in my eyes. No one can style an ensemble quite like she can and make it look cool even when technically it's "uncool". I ♥ KW

HELMUT LANG

I feel like I'm repeating myself a lot in the looks I'm liking but I really can't help it! This is just RIGHT.

GARY GRAHAM

ELISE OVERLAND

BOY by BAND OF OUTSIDERS

These looks are probably too summery but they're cute all the same.

ALTUZARRA

When I see a collection that's 98.8% black I have to FORCE myself to go through the pictures. Don't get me wrong, I love black but it can get sooooo monotonous.
Anyway.
I found most of this to be way too dracula inspired with those collars and all that black leather but the pants shown here are nice. I like the way the 2nd pair curves over the foot.

ALICE + OLIVIA

ALEXANDER WANG

Deconstructed suit after deconstructed suit. And Velevet. But we're seeing quite a bit of that this season aren't we. This collection is not as immediately likable as last season but A Wang fans should be kept happy. I particularly liked the trouser shorts over the baggy ankle leggings and the goth/grunge take on pinstripes but the finale dresses came across as clumsy.

ADAM

So lovely! I'm really loving flowy printed maxi dresses for winter. And I'm always drawn to metal beading.

I don't think you have bad taste at all I really liked the pieces you had chosen, I especially loved the black and white sort of cruella de vil inspired sort of Audrey Hepburn look (if that makes sense).
